About Tempest

          Inspiration

I am an impulsive creator. Things I see inspire me to capture their beauty in silver, a metal I love for its enduring sheen, adaptability and integrity.

Living on this lovely Caribbean island of Nevis I am inspired daily and captivated at every turn.

I pick plants, search for beach washed treasures and I love the people and life here. All this finds a way into my studio and out of all that, comes some amazing jewels.

Every design I craft, weld, solder or cast is done from scratch, and after decades of making stuff I have never produced two things the same. If you want a true gem, a unique keepsake, an heirloom jewel, or something special to you, please go to SHOP and gaze at my creations. I am, as I said a bit impulsive, so of course not everything I’ve made is in SHOP, there have been far too many and varied treasures. It delights me that my jewellery is adorning the necks, wrists, ears, lapels and noses of people all over the world.

My one-of-a-kind designs dare you to be different.   It's a testament to your individuality and a celebration of the beauty that surrounds us.

Please enjoy scrolling through my images and think, is there a special thing? Something you want, that you have seen, something you own, a family piece you'd like changed? If so get in touch with me and lets talk. gail@silverbytempest.com  I love doing special projects for people.

Delivery

You may have heard the term, “island time”. On Nevis it’s called limeing’ (said limin’ ) it really does apply to package delivery times. Post takes ages but is cheap, couriers are swift but are expensive. These are things we can discuss too. I so look forward to hearing from you.

Gail McInnes

Born in Australia I’ve lived in many cities and rural areas there, in the UK and Japan.   I have had a lifetime in arts and crafts alongside an international career in diagnostic imaging. I’m proud to be an Ikebana Sensei (Ichiyo Tokyo), and to have certification as a MAJA interior designer.  Laying my hand to oils, watercolours, silk painting, macrame and weaving, all further scratching the itch of my artistry.

Since 2016 I have been totally dedicated to designing pure silver jewellery.  Making the decision to live in Nevis in 2022, I am inspired every day by the plants, reef life, the limin’, the people, in fact, everything here.

I create individual and unique pieces using silver, gemstones and found objects to capture magic that seeps into my work from this island paradise.
