Rams Horn Pendant

Every day is a school day.  A new find on Lover's Beach got me investigating. What used to live in this little shell? 

This delicate structure is actually the internal skeleton of a deep sea squid, the Rams Horn squid. The chambers inside fill with air and helps the squid know which way is up in the pitch blackness.  Isn't nature amazing!  And I found two!  Broke one and made a cast of the other to make a replica.

I cast it in pure silver and it's set with a 4mm zircon crystal, and is attached to a 18 inch sterling silver thread through chain.
