Red Cats Eye & Turtle Bone Ring

A friend picked up an interesting object on Lovers Beach, Nevis. Knowing how much I love texture, she gave it to me.  I'm not sure exactly what it is.  Its not shell, its pattern resembles trabecular bone so I thought it might be a bit of a turtle bone.  I asked Tambo, a good friend who has been fishing the waters of Nevis for over 50 years, he is sure it is a piece of turtle shell from the underneath or abdomen area.  Shell or bone, I just love the texture this gives my jewellery.

I do love getting gifts and I wanted to make a thumb ring (or just a ring) for a one-of-a-kind Cats Eye gem I've had for a while.  Of course the ring is made from pure silver and textured with the pattern of what I am pretty sure is a sea worn part of a long past turtle.
